The historical railroad station served as the perfect backdrop for a night of fine wine, craft beer and catching up with old friends. Montana Tech was the sole beneficiary of the proceeds from the inaugural event Over 100 wines and several craft and specialty beers were part of the attraction as well as fare from some of Butte’s finest restaurants and caterers. We would like to thank Joe McClafferty (Montana Tech Athletic Director), and our very own Katie Seaman and Dan Haney for their hard work and dedication that made this event one to remember. We’re looking forward to next year’s event and hope to see you there!
<div

All proceeds from the event benefited the GSA. A big thank you to all of those who attended and participated in the largest and most successful Montana Wine and Beer Festival to date. We hope to see you all again next year! This style was chosen to celebrate our 25th anniversary of brewing on the Last Frontier in our coastal home of Juneau, Alaska.

Flavor Profile

This complex and malt forward Imperial Stout is brewed with an array of local ingredients and flavors to add dimension and celebrate Alaskan’s history and home. Alaska birch syrup from Wasilla lends a deep, almost tart character to the dark malt profile, while fireweed honey from Delta Junction adds a delicate sweetness and floral notes to the aroma and finish. The slight addition of our in-house alder-smoked malt alludes to the distinctive roasted flavor of turn-of-the-century malting practices, without overpowering the more subtle flavors of this dynamic anniversary brew.

History

To celebrate their quarter-century milestone, the Alaskan Brew Crew wanted to create a beer that was big, bold and brewed with ingredients from Alaska that could be enjoyed fresh or cellared to be brought out to remember the anniversary for years to come. The Russian heritage still present throughout our state make this Russian Imperial Stout a tribute to all that makes our beers truly Alaskan.<br

Custards, dark chocolate truffles, New York cheesecake and other creamy desserts bring out the the sweeter notes of fireweed honey, oats and brown sugar.

Specifications

Original Gravity: 1.093, ABV: 9.0%, Bitterness: 50 IBU, Color: 140 SRM

The Story Behind the Label

Brewing in a remote town with no roads leading in or out has never been easy but, like the turn-of-the-century breweries of Juneau’s Gold Rush who overcame all odds to serve the thirsty miners of the local, and appropriately named, Perseverance Mine, Alaskan’s founders and employees continue to persevere. The connection between brewing and mining in Alaska goes back to when the brewers of early Juneau stored their ales in the dark and cool tunnels of area mines. The Perseverance Mine closed over 60 years ago, but the historic Perseverance Trail is now one of Juneau’s favorite hiking trails and provides a reminder of the founding history and pioneering spirit that carries on at the Alaskan Brewery today.

All Thumbs

Did you know?

Uncategorized
<guid
